About Our District

Pontotoc City School District

Cultivating Warriors of Distinction

Welcome to Pontotoc! Nestled in the hills of northeast Mississippi, you will find a community dedicated to serving the people of this area. Both the county and the city declare “its people” our finest asset.

Pontotoc City School District is no exception. As an educational leader for the state, Pontotoc City Schools are “reaching a higher level of learning” for all our students. PCSD is an "A Level" school district that serves the twenty-three hundred students who reside both in the Pontotoc city limits and the immediate surrounding area. Our students excel in a variety of areas, including top scores on state assessments, competitive music and athletic programs, and service to our community. It is the quality of educational services, as well as adult role models in our community, that instill a sense of community in all we do.

Pontotoc High School (9-12) and Pontotoc Jr. High School (7 – 8) make up the secondary school programs for Pontotoc City School District. These schools encompass grades seven through twelve. Our high school programs, which include students from both schools, provide a rigorous curriculum with a variety of learning opportunities for all students.

Our elementary programs, grades K – 6, are housed in three schools: Pontotoc Elementary School (K-2), D. T. Cox Elementary School (3 – 4), and Pontotoc Middle School (5 – 6). These schools provide a comprehensive learning environment with a variety of opportunities for elementary children.

Our community and faculty expect our students to work hard and excel. It is that work ethic and the expectations that continue to push us to be the best. Those expectations and our community support allow us to provide our students with a quality, well-rounded educational experience that will enable them to compete world-wide. We are confident our students will continue to be leaders in our community, our state, our nation, and our world.
