PMS Students Recognized at MS Poetry Festival

(4/2): Sixth grade students Shalaya Smith and Rylan Webber wrote poems of their wishes and dreams for the Mississippi Poetry Project. Their poems were selected as school wide winners. They traveled to Delta State this week with other PCSD students and librarians to attend the MS Young Writers' Poetry Festival. Their poems were printed in the MS Poetry Project: Dreams and Wishes anthology. Each student received one to keep.
The keynote speaker was Stephanie Pacheco, National Youth Poet Laureate from New York. She spoke to the young poets about her life and shared her poems with them.
