Hispanic Heritage Month

Mrs. Chrestman’s third and fourth grade students have been learning about Hispanic Heritage Month, an annual celebration recognizing the rich history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities in the United States. It began on September 15th and ends on October 16th.
As part of their learning, students participated in a scavenger hunt featuring interesting facts about the many ways Hispanic culture has influenced our country. They discovered that Hispanic history in what is now the United States dates back centuries (long before the establishment of the United States government) and explored the lasting influence of Hispanic culture on areas such as language, food, music, art, and traditions.
Students also researched and created biographical posters highlighting famous Hispanic Americans and their accomplishments. They shared their posters and what they learned with their classmates, giving everyone an opportunity to learn about the remarkable contributions of Hispanic Americans throughout history.
