Pontotoc Middle School News

(2/28): Mrs. Whitworth and Mrs. Swain's science classes had so much fun learning about Forces and Newton's Laws of Motion. From a straw Rocket to a Popping Film Canister Rocket, students experienced how objects at rest can be shot into the air by an unbalanced force, and if the force is greater than the mass of the object it will accelerate. They created graphs recording velocity based on these experiments. Whether blowing a straw rocket across the room or blowing a film canister above the roof of the Middle School, students observed how for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

(2/28): Students in Mrs. Ross’ ELA class review for the the upcoming benchmark by playing “Race to the End” with practice test questions.

(2/23): The PMS Junior Beta Club induction will be on Friday, March 3, at 8:00 a.m. in the PJH Auditorium. The students will need to wear their beta shirts and jeans. Congratulations to these hard working Warriors!

(2/23) - PMS teachers were thankful for the biscuits that the FCA students provided them on Tuesday. These Warriors are a blessing to have in our community!

The deadline for ordering Yearbooks is December 21.

(1/24): Pontotoc Junior High Cheer Tryouts will be February 25 at 8:15. Clinic dates are February 23 - 24 at 3:15 - 5:00. More information to come.

(1/23): GUYS FOR TOMORROW'S WORLD is a program where Mr. Henderson and Mr. Bramlett will have a guest speaker and discuss topics concerning the male students collectively and individually. Coach Tipler spoke to these students about staying ready by having a purpose, having a plan and being persistent.

(1/12): Mrs. Koon’s PE class enjoyed a game of Swamp Ball to celebrate completing our first week of our Fitness Focused Physical Education.

(1/11): Happy New Year from Mrs. Brumley's fifth grade class! We are beginning the new year with a new unit in both Math and Science. In math, students are learning about volume and in science they are studying our solar system.

Just before Christmas science students built Egg Crash Cars while studying Newton's Laws. They learned the importance of seatbelts in cars to go along with it.

(1/10): Mrs. Wooley's class started learning about finding volume this week. Students were instructed to build their own rectangular prism out of unit cubes. Then, students were able to pass shapes around the room to find different volumes. Students had so much fun sharing these masterpieces with other students around the room.
