Congratulations Cheridy, Krish, and David, PHS's top 3 point earners in the Virtual Imagine the Possibilities Career Expo! Each was awarded a school level prize.

PHS Sophomores finished in second place in points for the Virtual ITP Career Expo, in our 17 county area, with a total of 54,046 points. PHS also had 100% of our 10th graders registered to participate. Way to go, Warriors!

For the next several weeks, PHS will continue to highlight students who have earned the ACT WorkKeys Career Readiness Certificate at a Silver or above level.
Congratulations to Carson, Davion, Garrett, Jon Robert and Caiden for earning their Silver or above National Career Readiness Certificates and becoming members of the PHS ACT WorkKeys Silver+ Club.

Our Workforce Wednesday speaker for March 2nd was Hayley Floyd, admissions recruiter from Delta State University.  Students learned about unique programs/degrees they offer like the Bachelor of Science in Commercial Aviation, Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation, Bachelor of Science in Entertainment Industry Studies, and their highly acclaimed Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.

PHS students competed in the MSMS Mathematics Competition on Thursday, February 24.

PHS seniors entering Career Technical fields that offer apprenticeships, met with Mr. Dave Kitchens of Three Rivers.  Mr. Kitchens shared apprenticeships that are available and the steps to follow to obtain an apprenticeship at the community college level.

February 23rd Workforce Wednesday speakers were Team Members from Toyota Mississippi.  Mr. Anthony Bowdry, with the Toyota Creating Your Future High School Internship Program, and Mr. Wade Winters, with the Toyota Advanced Manufacturing Technician Program, came and shared with our CCR students.  They were also joined by Fall 2021 PHS Toyota Interns, Brice Deaton and Nathan Tzib.

PHS students have two opportunities left to attend ACT review sessions in Reading/Vocabulary and English/Grammar during the month of February.
Students will have access to guided instruction, independent practices, and resources to take home. 8:30-11:30 in the PHS Commons. Call the PHS office to sign up.

The February 16th guest speakers for Workforce Wednesday, in College and Career Readiness classes, were Mr. Matt Ruth, VP of Operations and Mr. Johnny Anderson, Director of Human Resources for Albany Industries. These speakers provided students a wealth of information concerning the soft skills needed to be successful on any job.

Please be reminded that there is a limited amount of career camp funding available through CREATE's Toyota Wellspring Education Fund for interested students in the fields of Engineering, Pharmacy, Robotics, Art and Design, Construction, Veterinary Medicine, Accounting and Architecture. Please visit the camp's scholarship page or make direct contact with the camp if you are interested in applying for scholarship funding for the camp.
