(11/14) Mrs. Roe's students created comic strips using vocabulary words during their extension time.

(11/14) Students in Ms. Spicer's class are practicing their close reading skills while doing their second read of the tall tale, "Thunder Rose."

(11/11) Mrs. Heatherly's fourth graders are studying heat energy. Students learned about how animals in the arctic have blubber to help insulate them from the cold. They used Crisco "blubber" to insulate their hands from ice water.

(11/6) Students in Mrs. Steele's classes are learning about text features and how they help you locate and understand information while reading. As an extension to the lesson, students performed "text feature" surgery. Students had to place the corresponding bandage text feature over the correct location on the body that it matched.

(11/6) This week in Ms. Griffith's reading class, students are learning about text features in informational texts. The students were able to participate in a task card scoot around the room and answer questions on cards displayed in different places. The students were excited to get out of their desks and move around!

(11/6) Mrs. Kirk's third grade math students began their study of perimeter today. They used the same squares on the classroom floor that they used to find area to find the perimeter. They discussed how the perimeter differed from the area of those shapes.

(11/5) Mrs. Heatherly's class studied light energy and learned about the Northern Lights. They finished their lesson with chalk art.

(11/5) During Science/Social Studies time, Mrs. Hodum's third graders discussed voting and the importance of having your voice heard. Then, they conducted their own classroom elections to elect who they thought showed the best leadership skills.

(11/4) Mrs. Kirk's third grade math classes are learning about the area of a shape this week. After taping off the floor using the square feet of each of 10 shapes, Mrs. Kirk had the students work in groups to come up with the area of each shape and discuss another way to get the answers. Area=length x width.
