DT Cox Elementary School News

(8/27) Students in 4th grade music have enjoyed doing research on individual US States as they prepare for their upcoming Patriotic musical!

(8/26) Mrs. Chrestman’s fourth graders have been learning about the systems of the human body and the functions of various organs last week. Students identified the organs using a special apron they could wear. On Friday, they learned more about the circulatory system and made a model to show how the heart pumps blood. Fortunately, they don’t mind getting a little messy!

(8/26) This week in PE, students worked in teams to build Hula Huts using 6 hula hoops. Each team had to work together to build the Hula Hut. After the hut was completed, each member had a chance to crawl through the structure. This helped students work on using teamwork and learning from their mistakes.

(8/26) Instrument explore days are a music class favorite!

(8/26) Our counselor, Mrs. Kinnard is visiting classrooms this week. She is talking to the students about Mindfulness. She and the students discussed the importance of staying calm in all situations, and remembering to be present in the here and now.

(8/23) After learning about chemical and physical changes in science this week, Mrs. Foster and Mrs. Roe's classes made Alka-Seltzer rockets! The students were super excited about this experiment!

(8/23) Make plans to attend our Open House on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 6:00pm.

(8/23) Students in Ms. Spicer's ELA class are working very hard with their groups practicing identifying the theme of a passage.

(8/23) Students at D.T. Cox are game day ready thanks to our PTO parent volunteers! Remember, we will have face painting every Friday during football season. The cost is $1.00.
