DT Cox Elementary School News

(11/21) The EL Exit Club of D.T. Cox held its monthly meeting after school on Wednesday. The club was started this year by Mrs. Chrestman as an incentive for fourth graders who passed the rigorous ELPA 21 proficiency test last spring. Having passed the test, the students no longer attend Mrs. Chrestman’s class, so the club is a way to have fun, stay connected, and continue to promote language learning. At the meeting, students who had fall/winter birthdays were celebrated, and club members did a science activity and created a presentation of Spanish-English vocabulary.

(11/19) Mrs. Kirk and Ms. Shield's students gathered together for a special Friendsgiving lunch! Thank you to Ollie Rose Catering for providing such a delicious meal!

(11/19) DT Cox Warrior Club members enjoyed an incentive trip to learn about job opportunities right here in Pontotoc. Special thanks to PEPA, the Fire Department, Mississippi Beef Brothers, and Sansing Lawn Care for taking the time to share career education with our future leaders of tomorrow!

(11/18) DT Cox Staff were treated to a delicious steak dinner last night in celebration of our “A” school rating for the 2024–2025 school year!
A huge thank you to our Central Office staff for providing the meal, and to West Heights Baptist Church for hosting us and making the evening so special. We are grateful for your support as we continue doing amazing things for our students! 💛📚

(11/18) Mrs. Heatherly's class studied thermal energy, and were able to use a hands on experiment to see exactly how it works. First, they put their hands in ice water. Then, they put their hand in a bag of shortening (this resembles blubber like arctic animals have). Their hand stayed warm! The students were amazed!

(11/14) DT Cox teachers were treated with a soup-er lunch today thanks to our wonderful PTO. We appreciate all the parent volunteers who prepared food and/or worked cafeteria duty so everyone was able to enjoy!
