PHS Students are Thinking Big

9/18/25: Ivanna and Syesha have captured PHS students "Thinking Big," preparing for the future, and practicing their skills in carpentry, welding, health sciences, agriculture, agricultural power and machinery, teaching, drafting, engineering, law and public safety, early childhood education and electrical trades at the Pontotoc Ridge Career and Technology Center. A big shout out to all of these students for encouraging their peers to "Think Big!"

Also, please be reminded that the Big Ideas Mobile Skills Lab will be visiting PHS on October 2nd and 3rd and will be showcasing various technical and high skilled careers for our Sophomores.

8/29/25: We are excited that the Big Ideas Mobile Learning Lab will be visiting the PHS Campus and working with Sophomores on October 2nd and 3rd. The Mobile Learning Lab is loaded with high-end skilled trades simulators designed to help learners uncover new opportunities and natural abilities they’ve never tapped into before. The technology in the Lab helps make the experience fun and engaging, while their staff goes the extra mile to provide individualized mentorship and advice.

Solving Mysteries & Traveling the Hero's Journey

Mrs. Kelly’s English 2 classes gathered evidence and worked to make inferences and build an argument in a “Solving a Mystery” Activity last week! They were given a folder with “evidence” including instagram posts, bank statements, text messages, and more, and had to build a solid case to solve the crime!

In Mrs. Kelly’s English 4 class, students have been learning about The Hero’s Journey, and last week they put their knowledge to the text in the form of a partner activity!

Students watched an episode of “Bluey” titled “Curry Quest,” and then were given strips of paper with the events of the episode. They had to put the events in the correct category for The Hero’s Journey!
