Falling for Science: Discovering What Makes Life, Life! (10/17): Sixth-grade science students at Pontotoc Middle School are loving the cooler fall weather! Classes recently took their learning outside for a fun “gallery walk” activity focused on the characteristics that determine if something is a living organism. Students walked from station to station, reading and discussing questions about what makes living things unique—like using energy, growing and developing, and responding to their environment. The fresh air and hands-on learning made science come to life.
“Ready for Liftoff!” (10/8): Our 6th grade science students put Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion to the test with the film canister rocket lab! For every action (a little fizz and pop), there was an equal and opposite reaction (rockets shooting to the sky!). Let’s just say the lab experiment was full of laughter, flying canisters, and a whole lot of budding rocket scientists.
